Svay Rieng University, Cambodia
Svay Rieng University (SRU) is a public university located on NR No. 1 in Svay Rieng province, the southeast part of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Svay Rieng University was established through sub-decree No. 73 ANKR/BK dated on May 27, 2005, and the inauguration was held on January 25, 2006 honourably presided over by the Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, the Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia, and Lok Chumteav Katti Prita Bonditta.
This institution was initially created by H.E HOK LUNDY, former Commissioner General of National Police, and H.E HUN NENG, the former Provincial Governor of Svay Rieng, as well as other high ranking officials and generous people in Cambodia; especially, those who have links to the province.
Within ten-year operation, SRU has employed 160 include 90 full-time and 70 part-time lecturers and staff on performance contract. Meanwhile, over 3,000 students have graduated and approximately 3,000 students are in current enrolment. In 2014-2015 academic year, within five faculties, SRU is offering eleven specializations including Agronomy, Accounting, Management, Marketing, Mathematics, Rural Development, Animal Science and Veterinary, Computer Science, English Literature, Public Administration, and Finance and Banking, and MBA is the only master program offered in SRU.
Overcoming many challenges and with enduring efforts, SRU has been fully accredited by Accreditation of Cambodia Committee, ACC, for the foundation year. Presently, SRU is preparing to be officially assessed by MoEYS for the entire institutional education quality in the following year. Meanwhile, SRU has built the cooperation with some local and international universities namely for few, Chinese Academy Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS), Yangzhou University, and Galilee Institute, in 2010 and EMMASia programme in 2012-2015 . Furthermore, to build the capacity, SRU provides opportunity to staff and lecturers to get scholarships to pursue their Master and Doctoral degree overseas.
