Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC)
Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) was established in 1969, it’s a not-for-profit institution with aim to provide quality education opportunities for young Malaysian regardless of race, class and creed and develop talents to fulfil human capital demand from businesses and industries. TARUC is the biggest private higher learning institutions in Malaysia with 6 campuses across 5 states: Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang and Sabah.
Till this date, TARUC offers more than 190 programmes at PhD, Master, Bachelor, Diploma, pre-university levels at 7 faculties and 25 research centers across wide range of disciplines, which includes accountancy, finance, business management, economics, engineering, architecture and built environment, applied sciences, ICT, mass communication, creative arts, social science and hospitality management. TARUC has a student population of about 29,000 – including international students from over 30 countries – and also 210,000 alumni across the world.
TARUC is widely recognized by the academia and industries for its depth and breadth of scope and academic rigor. Over the years, TARUC had won numerous scholastic awards, among them are: Premier Digital Tech University status by the Ministry of Higher Education and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Most Engaged University-Industry Collaboration by the Ministry of Higher Education, Center of Excellence (BDA, AI and 5G) award by MDEC and Industry 4.0 Technology Expert Center (ITEC), Outstanding Educational Institution Award (Private Universities/Colleges, Product Award, CSR Award and Sin Chew Education Award), Excellent in Education Improvement Award at the ASIA Pacific CSR Award, and awarded Affiliated University status under CFA Institute University Affiliation Program.
TARUC advocates internationalization, and actively involves in international joint research projects, program level collaboration, staff and students exchange, study abroad and study tour activities. Some highlighted collaboration activities of TARUC with international institution are Cross Country Agriculture Research Project with Beijing University Dongguan Optoelectronics Research Centre, Socio-Economy Development of Belt-Road Initiative and China Free-Trade Zone Projects with Shanghai Academy of Social Science, Chinese and Malaysia Herbs Study with Guang Xi University of Chinese Medicine, Training and Research Center Establishment with ZTE, Dual-Award of Diploma in Railway Locomotive with Guangzhou Railway Polytechnic and the list goes on.
TARUC is also committed to build strong academic-industry relation with local business, industry, institution and community. Some selected collaborations are: wiper arm inspection project with Nippon Wiper Blade Sdn Bhd, Indoor Positioning project with MIMOS Berhad, Subtle Face Expression Algorithm with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Speech Recognition project with Ikhlas Kekal Sdn Bhd & Universiti Sains Malaysia, Agriculture Plant Growth Monitoring project with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, EAV Steel Slag project with Univrsiti Putra Malaysia and etc.
