  Established in 1969, Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT)  is a non-profit organization that aims to provide quality educational opportunities to Malaysian youths regardless of race, class and creed to develop talents to meet the human capital needs of business and industry. TAR UMT is the largest private institution of higher learning in Malaysia with 6 campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang and Sabah.
  To date, TAR UMT offers a total of more than 190 programs in 7 faculties and 25 research centers covering a wide range of disciplines for PhD, Masters, Bachelors, and Foundation levels, including Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Economics, Engineering, Architecture and the Built Environment, Applied Sciences, ICT, Mass Communication, Creative Arts, Social Sciences, and Hospitality Management. TAR UMT has about 29,000 students, including international students from more than 30 countries, and 210,000 alumni worldwide.
  TAR UMT is widely recognized in the industry for its depth, breadth and academic rigour. Over the years, the university has won a number of academic awards including: Top Digital Technology University accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Industry-Academia-Research Institutions appointed by the MoHE, Centers of Excellence (BDA, AI, and 5G) awarded by the MDEC and the Industry 4.0 Technologists Expertise Centre (ITEC), the Excellence in Educational Institutions Award (Private Universities/Colleges, Industry Award, CSR Award and Sin-Chew Education Award), Asia Pacific CSR Award for Excellence in Educational Improvement, and was granted Affiliated University status in the CFA University Program.
  TAR UMT advocates internationalization and actively participates in international joint research projects, program-level collaborations, faculty and student exchanges, study abroad and study tours. Examples of TAR UMT's collaboration with international institutions are the Cross-Border Agricultural Research Project with Peking University's Dongguan Optoelectronics Research Center, and the Belt and Road Initial Research and China Free Trade Zone Project with the Shanghai Institute of Social Science and Research. Chinese and Malaysian herbal medicine research with Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the establishment of the ZTE Training and Research Center, and a two-way scholarship for railway locomotives with Guangzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College, to name a few.
  TAR UMT is also committed to building strong academic and industrial links with local business, industry, institutions and communities. Selected collaborative projects include: Wiper Arm Inspection Project with Japan Wiper Blade Co Ltd, Indoor Positioning Project with MIMOS Berhad, Fine Facial Expression Algorithms Project with TAR UMT, Speech Recognition Project with Ikhlas Kekal Sdn Bhd and Universiti Sains Malaysia, Agricultural Plant Growth Monitoring Project with Tunku Abdul Rahman University for agricultural plant growth monitoring project, EAV steel slag project with Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Brief Information about Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC)

Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) was established in 1969, it’s a not-for-profit institution with aim to provide quality education opportunities for young Malaysian regardless of race, class and creed and develop talents to fulfil human capital demand from businesses and industries. TARUC is the biggest private higher learning institutions in Malaysia with 6 campuses across 5 states: Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang and Sabah.

Till this date, TARUC offers more than 190 programmes at PhD, Master, Bachelor, Diploma, pre-university levels at 7 faculties and 25 research centers across wide range of disciplines, which includes accountancy, finance, business management, economics, engineering, architecture and built environment, applied sciences, ICT, mass communication, creative arts, social science and hospitality management. TARUC has a student population of about 29,000 – including international students from over 30 countries – and also 210,000 alumni across the world.

Over the years, TARUC had won numerous scholastic awards, among them are: Premier Digital Tech University status by the Ministry of Higher Education and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Most Engaged University-Industry Collaboration by the Ministry of Higher Education, Center of Excellence (BDA, AI and 5G) award by MDEC and Industry 4.0 Technology Expert Center (ITEC), Outstanding Educational Institution Award (Private Universities/Colleges, Product Award, CSR Award and Sin Chew Education Award), Excellent in Education Improvement Award at the ASIA Pacific CSR Award, and awarded Affiliated University status under CFA Institute University Affiliation Program.

Some highlighted collaboration activities of TARUC with international institution are Cross Country Agriculture Research Project with Beijing University Dongguan Optoelectronics Research Centre, Socio-Economy Development of Belt-Road Initiative and China Free-Trade Zone Projects with Shanghai Academy of Social Science, Chinese and Malaysia Herbs Study with Guang Xi University of Chinese Medicine, Training and Research Center Establishment with ZTE, Dual-Award of Diploma in Railway Locomotive with Guangzhou Railway Polytechnic and the list goes on.

TARUC is also committed to build strong academic-industry relation with local business, industry, institution and community.
