A Delegation from Laos Visits Tianjin University
On March 30, 2016, a high-level delegation from higher education in Laos, paid a visit to Tianjin University (TJU). The Lao delegation was headed by Mr. Khamphay Sisavanh, the President of Souphanouvong University. The delegation included the officials from The Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) in Laos. Also in attendance were leaders from Savannakhet University, Champasak University and National University of Laos. Professor Li Jiajun, President of TJU, along with other related officials, cordially met with the delegation from Laos. The Lao delegation hoped that on the basis of China, being a member of the “ASEAN” Engineering University Union, that this visit would promote the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and ASEAN’s higher education.
During the meeting, President Li firstly extended a welcome to all the delegates, and briefly introduced TJU’s history, highlighting the Universities discipline and strengths. He also explained the layout of the Peiyang Park Campus. He expressed that TJU, based on last year’s visit to Lao, had known Lao higher education development demands and would actively broaden cooperation fields between TJU and Lao universities. Mr. Khamphay Sisavanh indicated that this visit was aimed to learn from the experience on university management from Chinese counterparts so as to reform Lao higher education system.
During the meeting, delegates were made aware of TJU style of management, student cultivation and the China “ASEAN” Engineering University Union.They highly appreciated the layout and construction of Peiyang Park Campus and hoped that what they had learned would improve and help develop Lao higher education system.
After the talk, delegates, accompanied by Laotian international students at TJU, visited the headquarters and the beautiful Zhengdong Library on the Peiyang Park Campus.
